Nebraska Recruiting: 2021 QB Peter Costelli’s Great First Trip to Lincoln

June 24, 2019

Recruiting never stops and it's easy to miss the top stories day-to-day. Recruiting analyst Greg Smith recaps all things Nebraska recruiting news, analysis and more so you never miss a thing.

Nebraska hosted about 30 recruits this past weekend when you combine official and unofficial visitors. Still, anytime a quarterback is on campus, you can bet they are going to generate some attention. That was the case for 2021 3-star (HV Rating: 84.8) quarterback Peter Costelli‍ from Mission Viejo, California.

I spoke with Costelli after the visit and he said that the trip to Nebraska was great because he was able to meet the coaches and see the facilities and campus. It sounds like he got the full tour as well.

“We got go check out campus and the facilities,” Costelli said. “It was the BBQ and Friday Night Lights so we got to meet with the coaches, go through the facility. Then I got the chance to throw for Coach [Scott] Frost and Coach [Mario] Verduzco. Then we were able to see the campus and check out how that was. Then we just kind of hung out.”

Costelli didn’t have much knowledge of the Nebraska offense heading into the visit but did note that it was cool throwing for Frost and Verduzco. He explained that they just wanted to see how he threw and also gave a couple of tips here and there. He wasn’t alone on the visit though and his parents had a positive experience as well.

“My mom and my dad came with me,” he said. “They thought it was great too. Everything was really good about Nebraska.”

Costelli and his family have been busy through the summer so far. They’ve visited Boston College, Duke, LSU and swung by Utah after checking out the Huskers. The junior-to-be signal caller wants to keep getting better and growing with his high school team to win as many games as possible this season. When he makes his mind up on a school, he’s looking for something in particular.

“I’m looking for a great relationship with the coaches and the overall fit in the school itself,” he said. “I’m looking for a great fit.”
