Recruiting never stops and it's easy to miss the top stories day-to-day. Recruiting analyst Greg Smith recaps all things Nebraska recruiting news, analysis and more so you never miss a thing.
Well, camp season just wrapped up. The Nebraska coaching staff was all over the country for the past several weeks evaluating prospects at camps, their high schools and hosting their own camps. All of that culminated in Nebraska’s own Friday Night Lights camp series and the Big Red BBQ.
Now, the waiting game (of sorts) begins for the Huskers. The dead period began on Monday so colleges are unable to host prospects on their campus. Nebraska hosted a lot of prospects through the spring and summer so far and now there are a number of top targets who have entered the decision-mode time.
Here are the targets that are considering the Huskers who could have decisions before their senior seasons start:
- 4-star DT Nash Hutmacher
- 3-star OLB/DE Blaise Gunnerson
- 3-star WR Xavier Watts
- 4-star LB Cody Simon
- 4-star CB Josh Moten
We know that cornerback Tamon Lynum (Nebraska), offensive lineman Alex Conn (Nebraska) and linebacker Malik Reed (Wisconsin) are all players that visited recently who have made commitments. There will also always be surprises. Would Oklahoma running back Sevion Morrison commit before his senior season? What about Georgia linebacker Choe Bryant-Strother or someone a bit more off the radar?
It figures to be a busy month or so in the lead up to fall camp opening on Friday, Aug. 2. By then, Nebraska could have an even bigger base of their recruiting class verbally committed.
