You don’t typically see that many new offers go out during this time of year. Coaching staffs are pretty busy with coaching their teams during spring practices. The general exception to that is if Nebraska’s staff wants to get a look at a prospect in person to verify measurables. Sometimes those unofficial visits during the spring can lead to new offers.
There are many things that college football staffs are doing during this NCAA mandated dead period in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Among those is going back through to check film on prospects.
Since we are in a new world right now, we have seen a flurry of activity with offers from Nebraska over the last week. A few themes have stuck out to me as we have seen new offers for Nebraska.
The Huskers have offered four class of 2022 quarterbacks since last Friday. Nicco Marchiol (Arizona), Steve Angeli (New Jersey), Alex Orji (Texas) and MJ Morris (Georgia) have all seen Nebraska enter the sweepstakes for their signature. Morris was the latest to receive his offer on Tuesday.

Each 2022 quarterbacks that just picked up an offer from Nebraska has a sizable offer list. The next thing to watch here is how many visit Lincoln once things open back up.
The Huskers have brought in two JUCO defensive backs under Travis Fisher: Deontai Williams and Will Jackson. Nebraska has offered a handful of JUCO defensive backs over the last couple years though. We can add another one to the group. Independence Community College defender Kamal Hadden was offered Monday night.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound cornerback is originally from Michigan. He also holds offers from Arkansas and Tennessee among others.
After landing seven players from Florida in the class of 2020, the Huskers are active once again in the Sunshine State. The 59 offers in the state is the most for any state this cycle for Nebraska. A pair of Florida prospects also picked up offers of the last week. Palmetto Ridge athlete Kamonte Grimes (6-2, 185) added Nebraska to the list of 20+ schools after him. The Huskers are also among the first offers for defensive end/outside linebacker Deonte Anderson. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound defender has a similar profile to other hybrid outside linebackers that the Huskers have brought in.
It will be interesting to see if we continue to see new offers made by the Huskers as they continue to evaluate this class and beyond. We don’t know yet what the spring evaluation period will look like or what will happen with senior film rising prospects down the road. For now, Nebraska is continuing to do its diligence on the trail.
