Nebraska Recruiting: Intriguing 2020 Offer Talks Husker Interest

February 13, 2019

Recruiting never stops and it's easy to miss the top stories day-to-day. Recruiting analyst Greg Smith recaps all things Nebraska recruiting news, analysis and more so you never miss a thing.

During the 2019 recruiting cycle, Nebraska made several offers in the state of Arizona. The Huskers eventually signed Ty Robinson, Javin Wright and Noa Pola-Gates from the Grand Canyon State. Nebraska has already close to ten scholarship offers for the class of 2020 in Arizona. It will be another good year for talent in the state, so area recruiter Mario Verduzco and the rest of the staff are wasting no time there.

On Tuesday, the Huskers offered an intriguing 2020 prospect in Arizona, Tommy Christakos‍.

Christakos told Hail Varsity that he has been in contact with Verduzco and offensive analyst Dustin Haines for a while. Verduzco had been through his school, Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, during the contact period. He was excited about the offer from the Huskers and also has an interesting connection to the university.

“We have a few family friends who are alumni,” Christakos said. “A friend of ours also is friends with Coach [Scott] Frost and has been mentioning my name to him since I was a freshman and he was at UCF. So, I think I have been on the radar for a while.”

The senior to be stands at 6-foot-4 and 200-pounds and is primarily being recruited by Nebraska as a wide receiver. As a junior, he tallied 49 catches for 1,114 yards and 12 touchdowns. He is also a good kicker and punter. He plans to be in Lincoln for the Spring Game in April.
