Recruiting never stops and it's easy to miss the top stories day-to-day. We’re recapping all things Nebraska recruiting news, analysis and more so you never miss a thing.
Earlier Sunday, the Nebraska football team participated in the 6th Annual Nebraska Football Road Race. Hundreds of fans particpated as well, with 100% of the funds raised going directly to the University of Nebraska Medical Center for pediatric brain cancer research. It’s honestly one of the best events of year.
And in the midst of all of it, the new Huskers on the team also debuted their jersey numbers. Derek Peterson did his best to note those he saw (while also running the 5k himself), but it’s not everyone (yet). There are 49 players without assigned numbers on the Huskers’ roster page. We have 13 though, and that includes some of the bigger names from the 2019 recruiting class.
In the spirit of their recruiting pasts and college futures, let’s look at the numbers these players wore in high school versus their new numbers at Nebraska. In many cases, it doesn’t mean much. A reason why? Someone already has the number the incoming player previously wore (Mohamed Barry, for example, is wearing the number Jamin Graham wore in high school). In others, the player was able to retain the number that may or may not have meant a lot to them personally (or modify them to be similar enough).
