Recruiting never stops and it's easy to miss the top stories day-to-day. Recruiting analyst Greg Smith recaps all things Nebraska recruiting news, analysis and more so you never miss a thing.
On Halloween, Nebraska’s recruiting class sits at 20 commitments. After what felt like a slow start, things have really picked up for the Huskers over the last week or so. Things have been on track for a while now but the rough start to the season had some people questioning the direction of the class. On Monday, coach Scott Frost laid out his thoughts on the timetable of the 2019 class.
"We're right on track," Frost said. "We're going to sign a bunch of guys. I don't know the exact number yet but if we sign as many as we possibly can with the initials we have, I still don't know if we'll get to 85 scholarships next year. I don't know if we can get really close to it. We're on the hunt. I like where we are right now. A bunch of the other guys we're in the game with and have a shot with. The coaches have been doing a really good job of balancing their time working with the team and working their butts off in recruiting to add to the talent we have here."
Frost is correct when he says the staff is on the hunt. One thing that wasn’t happening while the Huskers were struggling on the field was a lot of their top targets committing elsewhere. Now that Nebraska has some momentum on its side, the staff can really focus on some remaining top targets to really finish out the 2019 class strong.
If things continue the way they have been over the last week, the bulk of Nebraska’s class will be signed in December, allowing the Huskers to focus on flipping 2019 targets that don’t sign in December and/or solidifying their position with top 2020 prospects like 4-star offensive tackle Turner Corcoran.

>> There’s another battle brewing with Ohio State to keep an eye on for 2020. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, a 3-star wide receiver, is a big-time prospect out of Texas that Nebraska hosted for an unofficial over the summer. It looks like he will get to see them play up close when he visits Columbus this weekend for the game.
