Recruiting never stops and it's easy to miss the top stories day-to-day. Recruiting analyst Greg Smith recaps all things Nebraska recruiting news, analysis and more so you never miss a thing.
The Huskers were busy over the weekend offering quarterbacks for the class of 2022. Nebraska offered both Arizona quarterback Nicco Marchiol and New Jersey signal-caller Steve Angeli.
After one of the best calls I’ve had over the phone with @Coach_Verdu, I am honored to have received an offer from the University of Nebraska 🌽! #GBR @coach_frost @bccoachvito @EQBcoach pic.twitter.com/W0vTQnxy71

Angeli (6-3, 210) now holds double-digit offers. Nebraska is the latest school to offer the 2022 signbal caller, joining the likes of Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Miami, Rutgers and others. The Bergen Catholic sophomore was offered by quarterbacks coach Mario Verduzco after their first conversation.
“It was just a great feeling to get that offer,” Angeli told Hail Varsity. “Having such an in-depth conversation with Coach Verduzco and having it end in with an offer was unreal.”
Verduzco made a good impression on Angeli saying that Verduzco’s intelligence on football, the QB position and life is “amazing.” Angeli wasn’t too familiar with the Huskers prior to picking up the offer from the team. He does have a connection to Nebraska though since running back Rahmir Johnson attended Bergen Catholic. Johnson previously relayed to Angeli that he really likes it in Lincoln when he came back for a break.
Last season, the sophomore split time at quarterback but he is in line to be the stater for the upcoming season. Angeli plans to visit Nebraska to learn more about the school in person once the COVID-19 related restrictions are lifted. As he becomes more popular on the recruiting trail, he already has a strong list of criteria for what he is looking for in a school.
“A place that wants me, feels like home and is great offensive fit for me,” Angeli said. “Plus, a coaching staff I like and feel comfortable with, has good academics for what I want to study, good alumni base and has good life options for after college.
