Recruiting never stops and it's easy to miss the top stories day-to-day. Recruiting analyst Greg Smith recaps all things Nebraska recruiting news, analysis and more so you never miss a thing.
During the Big Red Blitz tour at the end of last week, the topic of recruiting came up with Nebraska coach Scott Frost. Camp season is upon us and Frost said that he expects more good players to come through Lincoln at the camps the Huskers are hosting.
"We're farther ahead this year just because we've been here longer," he said. "When we first got here, we were in such a big hurry to get the '19 class ready that we weren't able to look at the '20 class as much.
“With our staff being here longer, we have a better start on all those things. We've had more good players on campus than we did a year ago and I think will continue through summer camps."
Frost is correct. Just over the last couple of weeks they have had some really good talent on campus. That includes:
- OLB Blaise Gunnerson
- WR Xavier Watts
- WR Thad Johnson
- WR Will Nixon
- LB Jeff Roberson
- 2021 LB Ethan Downs
Frost also mentioned that the Huskers would see good players at the camps that Nebraska is hosting this month. It seems like that’s already paying off. On Tuesday, 2021 Creighton Prep tight end AJ Rollins picked up an offer from the Huskers after the Junior Jays spent time at Nebraska’s team camp. The junior-to-be already stands at 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds. He became the third in-state offer for the class of 2021 joining Elkhorn South’s Teddy Prochazka and Omaha Westside’s Avante Dickerson.
