Nebraska Recruiting: Updates From the Second Week on the Road

January 24, 2019

The contact period is back in full swing. After a busy first week on the road and hosting a visit weekend that included two intrguing targets, the Nebraska coaching staff is already back on the road. Since spaces are getting tight to finish the 2019 recruiting class, tracking where the staff is, especially coach Scott Frost, will be worth noting.

We will keep a running list each week about the Nebraska’s staff’s travels, providing updates as more information becomes available.

Here is the latest on where Hail Varsity has confirmed the staff is visiting:

Monday Updates

>> Dylan Jordan‍, the fast-rising outside linebacker from Pittsburg, Kansas, just sent me a message that Frost and defensive coordinator Erik Chinander are on their way to do an in-home visit with him. The staff has already been by to see him multiple times but now Frost will be using his in-home directly after Jordan took his official visit to TCU this past weekend.

Jordan has become one of the real intriguing prospects as we lead up to the Februaty signing day. He is scheduled to take an official visit to Lincoln this weekend.

Tuesday Updates

>> It looks like quarterbacks coach Mario Verduzco is in Athens, Alabama, to visit 2020 quarterback commit Logan Smothers’ high school. Someone from the staff has been by each week to see him during the contact period.

>> Inside linebackers coach Barrett Ruud was through Lakeland High School today. If you recall, this is the school that produced Lloyd Summerall and others this cycle. They are always loaded with talent and the Huskers are keeping a presence there.

Wednesday Updates

>> Turner Corcoran‍, fresh off his Junior Day visit to Kansas State, got a visit from offensive line coach Greg Austin on Tuesday. The 4-star offensive tackle has long been confirmed on the list of Junior Day attendees for Feb. 2.

>> Frost is in the Dallas area today. Here he is at Southlake Carroll with SLC’s coach Riley Dodge. While in the Dallas area, it makes sense that he would do an in-home visit with 4-star outside linebacker Steven Parker, I am trying to confirm with Parker.

Thursday Updates

>> Looks like we finally have an answer for when Frost would check in on Parker. He just reached out and said he believes Frost will be dropping by today for an in-home visit.

>> Frost and Held are making the rounds in Oklahoma today. They stopped by Edison High School in Tulsa which is home to 2020 running back Sevion Morrison‍ who had 3100 total yards as a junior.

It makes sense for the Huskers to spend some time in Oklahoma as they continue to gain ground in the state. Also logistically speaking, it’s a short flight on a private plane back to Dallas for Steven Parker.

> > Tight ends coach Sean Beckton is down in Georgia visiting Pierce County High School. Pierce is the home of 2020 offensive lineman Avery Jernigan‍ who holds an offer from the Huskers.

More to come throughout the week.
