In recruiting, you are best served by using the advantages you enjoy as a program. Each school naturally has its own set of tools that a coaching staff can utilize to sell the program, making it appealing to recruits. For a long time (since 1962, to be exact) every coach of the Nebraska football program can tell recruits that they will enjoy unmatched support from Husker fans.
Coach Scott Frost said during his appearance on Sports Nightly last week that his staff does not negatively recruit but they did show recruits pictures of the Nebraska spring game side-by-side with other spring games around the country. Personally, I wouldn’t even consider that negative recruiting but instead a sound strategy.
The Huskers are even using spring game attendance in new recruiting graphics for prospects to share on social media.

Over the weekend, Oregon touted its own spring game attendance, which was announced to be 35,000 at Autzen Stadium.

Eventually, Frost will want to add win totals, award winners and NFL Draft picks to the selling points of the program. Until that happens, Nebraska will continue to sell the many strong points of the program. Frost expects the spring game to be sold out for years to come so don’t expect that unique selling point to go away any time soon.
