The Huskers are home once again this week to face off with the Ohio State Buckeyes at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The team has another opportunity to host visitors. Game day atmosphere is one of the top selling points of the program right now. Any time the program can get visitors in town it is a positive thing for recruiting.
Nebraska does have an official visitor on the docket for this weekend. Chicago 2022 defensive back Jalil Martin will be in Lincoln. Martin (6-3, 190) was scheduled to come to Lincoln last weekend but had to reschedule. The Huskers are battling Illinois most closely for Martin’s signature. But, he did take a visit to Notre Dame recently. Ole Miss and Colorado are also in the picture for him.
There are some 2023 players that are very intriguing again this week. There are a pair of uncommitted 2023s that hold offers already. Inside linebacker Asa Newsom is returning to campus. Asa is the brother of current Nebraska defensive end Mosai Newsom. He holds offers from Iowa, Missouri and Kansas State among others. Teitum Tuioti will be back on campus again, too.
The visit list last weekend looked like it had several players that would get offers after the weekend. This weekend has the same feel. Marvin Burks Jr., a 2023 wide receiver from St. Louis, is an early 4-star prospect. It would be surprising if the 6-foot-2, 190 pounder doesn’t have an offer when he leaves Lincoln. It will be tough to miss nose tackle prospect Elinneus Davis on the sidelines. At 6-foot-3, 295 pounds, he could be someone to watch as an interior defensive lineman in the 2023 class.
The Huskers have had success at Derby High School in Kansas. That’s where current offensive lineman Alex Conn is from. Class of 2023 running back Dylan Edwards will be on campus this weekend. So will Arizona 2023 offensive tackle Jack Endean. He’s got a good frame (6-6, 265) and has early offers from Arizona and Cal.
There are also a pair of 2022 prospects to keep an eye on. Lincoln East quarterback Noah Walters is scheduled to visit this weekend. The record-setting signal caller has seen the Huskers show more interest lately as a potential walk-on candidate. Walters would bring an interesting skillset to the room if he joined the team. The Huskers would be battling Iowa Western the most for Walters if they come through with that offer. A long snapper will also be on the sidelines. Tug Sanford will be checking out the Huskers.
Keep it locked on Hail Varsity for updates after the visits have concluded.
