The Huskers hosted a huge visit weekend for the game against Northwestern. Now the team will try to follow that up with another impact weekend for recruiting. There are no 2022 official visitors scheduled to be in town. That was the plan all along. Look for Illinois defensive back Jalil Martin to take an official for the Purdue game.
Nebraska will have several commits on hand for the big game. Outside linebacker Jake Appleget and inside linebacker Ernest Hausmann are back on the sidelines. Florida defensive end commit Hayden Schwartz will be making his first game day visit. The 2023 commits will also be represented. Tight end Ben Brahmer and offensive lineman Gunnar Gottula are coming to the game.
The Huskers will have North Platte athlete Vince Genatone back in town. Genatone still doesn’t have an offer from the Huskers but the program is interested in him. He’s having a monster senior season and is the best chance at a new in-state offer going out for the 2022 cycle. The numbers crunch is probably the biggest thing holding that back.
There are several players to watch that are visiting from the 2023 class. Texas defensive end Kennedy McDowell (6-4, 200) is making his way to Lincoln the first time. McDowell is ready to see what Husker Nation has to offer.
“I’m definitely excited to see the Husker Nation everyone talks about,” Kennedy said. “It will be a very fun experience for me and my family and I can’t wait to have a blast.”
McDowell holds an offer from Nebraska. He has several early offers including from Notre Dame. Another name to watch is Florida defensive back Braeden Marshall. He has a dozen offers including from the Huskers. The defender (5-10, 170) is also excited for the trip.
“I’m looking forward to meeting all the coaching staff,” Marshall said. “I’m also excited to see the campus and the game day atmosphere.”
Nebraska will also host its top quarterback target for the 2023 class. Lousiana native Reese Mooney will be back in town. Hail Varsity caught up with him for a full interview before his visit. The latest in-state offer Malachi Coleman will be back at Memorial Stadium. Coleman has an open invitation to any home game. It will be interesting to see how long he stay uncommitted. Visit mainstay Teitum Tuioti will also be back in the house.
The Huskers will also host a couple more intriguing in-state players. Gretna quarterback Zane Flores will be at the game. The 2023 signal-caller hasn’t seen his recruitment take off quite yet but he’s having a great season. Omaha Westside defensive back Caleb Benning will also be in town. The son of former Husker Damon Benning looks to be the next big star to come out of Omaha Westside.
Keep it locked on Hail Varsity for updates to the full visit list.
