This weekend, Nebraska will hold a pair of big events on campus. First will be Friday Night Lights on Friday evening then the Adidas Pipeline Camp will be held on Saturday morning. Also, this weekend, Nebraska is set to host a pair of official visitors.
We’ve known for a while that Iowa outside linebacker Blaise Gunnerson will be in town this weekend for his official visit. This will mark the fourth time that Gunnerson has made it to Lincoln since the end of last season. Nebraska is locked in a battle with Iowa State, though I would currently mark the Huskers as the favorites heading into the official visit.
The second official visitor this weekend that Hail Varsity has been able to confirm is 3-star Florida running back Marvin Scott III. The Florida runner has long been someone that Nebraska has coveted. When I spoke with him last month, he said that he was building a great relationship with the Huskers and he was ready to get up to Lincoln and check it out. After that conversation, I went out on a limb and predicted him be be ‘N.’
Hail Varsity has also confirmed another big unofficial visitor. Multiple sources say that Omaha Burke WR Xavier Watts will be in Lincoln. With his visit on Friday, Watts will have been on campus three or four times since the end of the season and twice in two weeks. There seems to be a shift towards Nebraska in his recruitment currently but the Huskers still need to survive an official visit to Notre Dame and a possible official to Michigan at the start of the season.
As a reminder, I currently believe Gunnerson, Scott III and Watts will all be in Nebraska’s class. In addition to all of that, 2021 Elkhorn South offensive lineman Teddy Prochazka will not just be attending the Pipeline Camp on Saturday but he will be working out.
Greg is the Recruiting Analyst for Hail Varsity and has covered Husker athletics since 2013. He has always had a passion for sports while growing up in the Chicago area. As he got older and had to hang up his cleats and sneakers, he realized his passion for sports went beyond just watching and attending games. He has covered many events from the Rose Bowl to championship boxing matches. If he’s not talking sports, he’s hovering over his grill. He is married to an amazing woman, Kim, and they have a dog that barks when Greg yells at the TV during games.
