Did Nebraska recruit any of the players in their class?
This one is tricky. Ohio State has some of the top players in the country at their respective positions in the 2020 cycle. So there are lots of players that the Huskers wanted who ended up picking Ohio State. The trio of 4-star wide receivers Mookie Cooper, Gee Scott Jr. and Jaxon Smith-Njigba were all priority targets. Paris Johnson Jr, a 5-star offensive tackle, was pursued by the Huskers.
Are there remaining targets on their board that Nebraska is also recruiting?
Unless someone new bursts onto the scene the battles between the Buckeyes and the Huskers on the recruiting trail this season are finished.
Any prospects from their last class playing as freshmen?
The Buckeyes have done a nice job of working their freshmen into games. They have also had plenty of chances to do it with blowouts in each game. Running back Steele Chambers has 10 rushes for 79 yards and a touchdown. Marcus Crowley has 11 rushes for 57 yards. Wide receiver Jameson Williams two catches for 74 yards and a score. Garrett Wilson has seven receptions for 71 and two touchdowns plus a punt return for 52 yards. Former 5-star defensive lineman Zach Harrison has four total tackles. Outside linebacker Cade Stover has a pair of tackles.
How has Nebraska recruited the state?
Ohio hasn’t been a huge focus for Nebraska’s recruiting efforts. The last player to sign with the Huskers from the state of Ohio was Matt Sichterman in the 2017 class. The cycle before that Nebraska signed defensive back Tony Butler. Last recruiting cycle Nebraska only offered 10 prospects from Ohio a scholarship.
Are there any notable players that Nebraska lost to them?
In the 2020 recruiting class the Buckeyes and Huskers went head to head for 4-star outside linebacker Cody Simon. He took his official visits over the summer and was hosted by Wan’Dale Robinson while in Lincoln. He ultimately chose Ohio State. Jameson Williams is a 4-star wide receiver from St. Louis. He took an official visit to Nebraska last cycle but picked Ohio State.
