OLB Target Dylan Jordan Sees Nebraska as ‘a Great Place to Be’

January 27, 2019

As we get to crunch time for the 2019 recruiting class, Nebraska is still looking to add more disruptive defenders to the class. Rising 3-star (HV Rating: 88.8) outside linebacker Dylan Jordan‍ fits that description. The Kansas native made the trip to Lincoln this weekend for his final official visit.

Hail Varsity caught up with him on his drive home to get his thoughts on the trip and his decision timeline.

Here is the full Q&A:

What were you overall thoughts on the visit?

“Man, it was a lot of fun. Coach [Scott] Frost is doing some really good things with that program.”

What did you get to do once you got to Lincoln?

“I met with the academic support people, strength and conditioning, plus the nutritionist. I really got to meet a lot of people involved with your daily life. I met some great players too and got to go out with them.”

Who was your player host?

“My player host was Caleb Tannor. Oh man, he’s a funny dude.”

How was the vibe overall from the players that you met?

“I hung out with one of the tight ends and he was cool. Also, [Andre] Hunt too. There are people from everywhere up there from all walks of life. It’s just so great. It’s a great place to be.”

How were the conversations with the coaching staff?

“It was really nice getting to talk and meet with Coach [Jovann] Dewitt, Coach Frost, Coach [Erik Chinander] and Coach [Ryan] Held. I feel it’s a good fit. I fit the scheme pretty well. The coaches are really genuine and real good men. I feel like they’d develop me as a player but even more socially and as a man.”

Who came with you on the trip?

“My mom. I think she really enjoyed it as well.”

What did you think about the defensive scheme fit and is it similar to how you play in high school?

“Yes, it actually is. I come from a 3-4 defense. They like me to play that SAM position. It’s basically what they had Shaqueem playing to rush the passer. It’s a lot of what I already do being a linebacker that can run but at the same time come off the edge and take on blockers or rush the passer.”

What are the biggest factors in your decision?

“I do plan on committing tomorrow. I know everything I need to know to decide between Nebraska and TCU. I just need to sit down with my family and discuss what’s best for me.”
