After a nice opening weekend of recruiting action with two official visitors in 4-star wide receiver Isaah Crocker and 3-star defensive back Aashari Crosswell, Nebraska is on the road this weekend so no one will be in town.
Recruiting never sleeps though, so in the immortal words of Bane from “The Dark Knight Rises,” let the games begin.

Additional Scoop
A win for Nebraska in Eugene this week would be big not just for the confidence of the team and fan base, but also for sustained recruiting momentum. If you follow recruiting, you will notice a lot of familiar faces on the Oregon roster. Jaylon Redd, CJ Verdell, Issac Slade-Matautia, Thomas Graham and Deommodore Lenior were all Nebraska targets in the 2017 recruiting cycle.

Talanoa Hufanga, Chase Cota, Michael Ezeike, Kobe Smith, Elijah Wade and Aashari Crosswell are just some of the common 2018 targets Nebraska and Oregon are battling for. Nebraska has won some battles against Oregon as Lamar Jackson and Tyjon Lindsey were recruiting heavily by the Ducks.
Speaking of Hufanga, the quiet-yet-talented 4-star safety prospect will be in attendance this weekend to see the Huskers take on the Ducks on an unofficial visit. Hufanga lives in Corvallis, Oregon, and will be using his officials for visits that are further away.
I caught up briefly with Ezeike, one of the confirmed NIU visitors, on Thursday. The big-bodied wide receiver (6-5, 210) told me that despite having a top seven that did not include Nebraska, the Huskers will get an official visit. He says that he made the top seven before Nebraska offered. That has to bode well for Nebraska’s chances.
This week there are a few Husker targets and one commit that will be out visiting other schools. We have known for a while that Radley-Hiles would be visiting other schools. This week he will be going to Clemson along with the top defensive end in the country and Clemson commit Xavier Thomas. It’s an unofficial visit and folks within the Husker program are not too concerned.
5-star defensive end/outside linebacker Micah Parsons and 4-star defensive back Christian Tutt are heading to Columbus this weekend to check out Ohio State. Both are official visits. It’s unknown at this point if Tutt is a “take” for Ohio State at this time. Expect the Buckeyes to put the full-court press on Parsons. If he doesn’t commit this weekend, consider that a victory for the other schools after his services.

One more thing to pass along. Joshua Moore, who has been doing a fantastic job with his diary series with Hail Varsity, tells me that he is doing some peer recruiting for the team. He says that Tommy Bush, Jalen Hall, Parsons and Tutt are among the targets he’s after. I really like NU’s chances to land 50 percent of that group.

Greg is the Recruiting Analyst for Hail Varsity and has covered Husker athletics since 2013. He has always had a passion for sports while growing up in the Chicago area. As he got older and had to hang up his cleats and sneakers, he realized his passion for sports went beyond just watching and attending games. He has covered many events from the Rose Bowl to championship boxing matches. If he’s not talking sports, he’s hovering over his grill. He is married to an amazing woman, Kim, and they have a dog that barks when Greg yells at the TV during games.
