The Matt Rhule recruiting engine is still churning after Early Signing Day.
Three-star cornerback Ethan Nation out of Roswell, Georgia, announced just before kickoff at the Under Armour All-America Game on Tuesday that he’s coming to Nebraska. He was one of secondary coach Evan Cooper’s late targets, offering him and inviting the high school senior for an official visit the same day.
Nation enjoyed his official visit to Lincoln on December 16. He’s already signed his letter of intent to Nebraska but kept his decision silent until Tuesday. Nation was the first of the game’s participants to announce their college decision during the game, doing so just prior to kickoff. He was also recruited by Ole Miss, Houston, Texas A&M and others.
Nation finished his senior season with 36 tackles, 11 PBUs and three interceptions. He made 37 tackles the year before. He was named the region’s Co-Athlete of the Year, playing a big part in Roswell’s 12-2 season that ended in Georgia’s AAAAAA state semifinals. As a receiver Nation caught 27 passes for 427 yards with three touchdowns.
He is the No. 22 known member of Nebraska’s 2023 class. Going into Tuesday, Nebraska was ranked No. 28 in the composite team recruiting rankings. Nation is the third high school cornerback signed to Nebraska’s 2023 class along with Dwight Bootle and Syncere Safeeullah. Nebraska also signed former Florida cornerback Corey Collier Jr. via the transfer portal.
