Nebraska’s last commit announced on Monday he’s re-opening his commitment in light of the current coaching staff change.
Arnold “Duda” Barnes III, a 3-star running back out of New Orleans, announced his decommitment from Nebraska in a tweet. He was Nebraska’s most recent commitment, announcing his allegiance to Nebraska on Oct. 28 after flipping commitment from Tulane.

Barnes’ recruitment was born solely out of the Mickey Joseph interim era during the season. Joseph and running backs coach Bryan Applewhite recruited Barnes, including an offer on September 25. He came to Lincoln for an official visit and was sold. A late charge by Iowa wasn’t enough and Barnes commitment to Nebraska in the same weekend he decommitted from Tulane.
Barnes is a 5-foot-11, 190-pound prospect who runs a 4.49 40, 4.21 shuttle and squats 445. He’s maxed the 185-pound bench out at 18 reps. Barnes became a touchdown machine this year, posting multiple four-touchdown games. He’s a 3-star composite on 247Sports and 41st-ranked prospect out Louisiana.
Barnes joins 4-star wide receivers Omarion Miller and Malachi Coleman among Class of 2023 decommitments for Nebraska.
Nebraska’s 2023 recruiting class is now ranked No. 58 in the country.
