A Theory on the Huskers’ Second Halves | I-80 Preview

November 19, 2020

Believe it or not, we’re already into the second half of this strange, taped-together regular season.

Nebraska (1-2) will have just three games remaining, plus the plus-one the week of Dec. 19, after it hosts Illinois (1-3) on Saturday. Both teams picked up their first wins of the season. The Huskers jumped out to a big lead then the defense held up twice in the red zone for a 30-23 win over Penn State.

The Illini used three second-half interceptions last week to beat Rutgers 23-20 on a field goal in the final 10 seconds. Quarterback Isaiah Williams rushed for 192 yards in the win––an Illini record for quarterbacks––and was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, but Brandon Peters, the starter at the start of the season, returns this week so there’s some mystery entering Saturday.

The bigger mystery, might be Nebraska’s second-half struggles this season. We get into that, look at key players to watch on each side, get a weather update from Rusty Dawkins and break down what the Huskers need to do to come away with a win in the latest episode of the I-80 Preview podcast.

The I-80 Preview will have new episodes each week during football season. You can listen to the latest episode below or, better yet, subscribe via Apple Podcasts, Spotify or your preferred pod purveyor.

The I-80 Preview podcast is a Hurrdat Media production.
