The Big Ten likes chaos. Aside from Ohio State, everything else feels uncertain. Even the Buckeyes can’t take it easy because anything has shown that it can and will happen. For example, Iowa is 3-2 on the season so far. Who saw that coming? Hard to imagine many predicted an Indiana win over Michigan State. It is what it is. The Big Ten is a chaos conference.
So, how exactly did the Big Ten do in week five? We’ve got your recap, with highlights, links worth checking out and more. We’ve listed each school by record and then alphabetically (just like the Big Ten’s website).
EAST
No. 4 Michigan, 5-0
Defeated Wisconsin 14-7
Yeah, a lot of people thought Wisconsin was going to pull off the win but then they didn’t. That’s absolutely one storyline. The other? This formation:

Maryland, 4-0
Defeated Purdue 50-7
Well, Maryland is 4-0 in the East Division of the Big Ten. Just holding down the fort between Michigan and Ohio State… That’s not crazy at all.
No. 2 Ohio State, 5-0
Defeated Rutgers 58-0
And the Buckeyes keep on rolling.
Indiana, 3-1
Defeated Michigan State 24-21
Congratulations on getting The Spittoon back. College football is weird.
Oh yes, it is a great feeling to have The Spittoon back in B-Town. #RaiseTheFlag pic.twitter.com/7rH2MTJmuH

Penn State, 3-2
Defeated Minnesota 29-26
Minnesota’s Jaylen Waters was ejected Saturday for his hit on Penn State kicker Joey Julius. It’s never fun to see a guy go down and not immediately get back up, but it also brought attention to Julius. Apparently he wreaks havoc on most opposing teams, which the Big Ten Network highlighted on Twitter. You go, Julius.

So, a little fun fact:
Michigan State is unranked for the first time since October 2013.

WEST
No. 12 Nebraska, 5-0
Defeated Illinois 31-16
No. 11 Wisconsin, 4-1
Lost to Michigan 14-7
The Badgers may have lost, but they put up a heck of a fight against Michigan. They’ll continue to be a team to keep an eye on in 2016.
Iowa, 3-2
Lost to Northwestern 38-31
Want to sum up Iowa? Here’s a good tweet to do just that:

Purdue, 2-2
Lost to Maryland 50-7
Harsh review of Purdue, but apparently deserved as long as the fans don’t care.
Illinois, 1-3
Lost to Nebraska 31-16
