This year has been a fun and exciting year for my team and I. Exceeding expectations is always a good thing, not necessarily expectations from the outside but expectations that we set for ourselves before the season even started. It’s definitely been a turnaround for us. Last year we started off the season 2-4 and now we’re rolling on a 6-game winning streak beating teams by 40-plus points per game.
Hard work and dedication is what put us in position to win a state championship last year and hard work and dedication is what is going to put us in that same position again this year.
With all the hype and success surrounding my name where I’m from, it can be easy to get caught up in that and get the big head, but that’s not my number-one priority right now because I know once I start listening to the praise or the negativity I can become satisfied and I don’t have time for that. My top priority is leading my team back to the state championship and I won’t accept anything less than that.
With my senior season being so close to ending, I want to make sure to take advantage of every single opportunity. Especially on the football field because this is my last chance to do something special here.
This Friday we have our second-to-last home game against Van Vleck, a team more skilled and disciplined than the teams we’ve played previously. That won’t bring my confidence level down and they’ll have to come and play regardless because if not then it won’t end well for them. I look forward to making plays and helping my team in as many ways as possible get our seventh consecutive win of the season.
Of course, I’ll try to house a punt or kick return as well!!
