First Practice of Spring Football in the Books for Nebraska

March 04, 2019

Nebraska’s first practice of spring football has officially come and gone. The Huskers hit the practice field at the Hawks Championship Center Monday morning. Since then, a few photos and updates have been shared from Nebraska’s first time on the practice field for 2019.

Let’s take a look at what’s been shared so far.

Early scouting report from senior defensive lineman DaiShon Neal on freshman Wan'Dale Robinson. Sure sounds like he’s fast, doesn’t it?

When Cameron Jurgens was recruited to Nebraska, he was a tight end that weighed 225 pounds. Now? Jurgens has moved to the offensive line and is listed on Nebraska’s roster at 270 pounds (although rumor has it that he’s surpassed that already). Jurgens has always been a big guy but he’s clearly growing into the offensive lineman role (specifically center) that Frost wants.

“He’s as physical and as good of a blocker as we have on our football team,” Coach Scott Frost said in October after moving Jurgens from tight end. “I really think he’s got potential to be a really good player on the offensive line.”

Look, it’s the first day of spring practice. A lot can and will change before the season starts at the end of August. But for documentation’s sake, that appears to be redshirt freshman Will Farniok at center. And then on the other side of the ball, that’s junior defensive lineman Ben Stille on the end.

Tony Tuioti sighting. Nebraska’s new defensive line coach makes his Huskers practice debut in the fourth photo, which also features a camera staredown by redshirt freshman defensive lineman Casey Rogers.
