Another Florida recruit from the 2020 cycle has left the team. Nebraska head coach Scott Frost confirmed that freshman wideout Marcus Fleming is no longer with the team.
“Marcus, we wish him the best, he’s not going to be on the team anymore,” Frost said Monday morning to kick off the team’s prep for Saturday’s game against Purdue. “We’ll move on and I feel good about that position where it is.”
Fleming appeared in four games this year, but only registered a catch against Northwestern. In that game, he had five catches for 75 yards. He did not travel for Friday’s game against Iowa. He’s not in Lincoln but still shows up in the UNL student directory.
The 5-foot-10, 165-pound Fleming was a 4-star recruit out of Miami Northwestern High School in Miami.
Nebraska has so far had five departures from the 2020 recruiting class. All of them have come from the Florida area, and Fleming becomes the fourth from the Miami area alone. Defensive back Henry Gray transferred to Florida International in May. Defensive back Jaiden Francois transferred to UCF, linebacker Keyshawn Greene went to FAU, and defensive back Ronald Delancy III recently announced he was putting his name in the portal.
“We have to make sure we are recruiting the right kids, and not just the right athletes,” Frost said.

Derek is a newbie on the Hail Varsity staff covering Husker athletics. In college, he was best known as ‘that guy from Twitter.’ He has covered a Sugar Bowl, a tennis national championship and almost everything in between (except an NCAA men’s basketball tournament game… *tears*). In his spare time, he can be found arguing with literally anyone about sports.
