There were five scholarship signees from Nebraska in the Huskers’ 2019 class. With the arrival of the February issue of Hail Varsity, we’ve written features on all five over the past two months.
Our January issue focused on the early enrollees, Nebraskan and not, and included a story on Omaha Burke teammates Nick Henrich and Chris Hickman as well as Scottsbluff’s Garrett Nelson. The three are roommates this spring.
In the February issue, York’s Garrett Snodgrass and Norfolk Catholic’s Ethan Piper take center stage. Recruiting analyst Greg Smith went to York to talk with Snodgrass and his coach, who also happens to be his father, about what it meant to get the opportunity to play for the Huskers. Staff photographer John Peterson shot the cover.
Staff writer Jacob Padilla spoke with Piper about his busy spring before becoming a Husker. The months ahead include basketball, a potential run at a state shot put title and a role in his school’s upcoming production of “Beauty and the Beat.” Yeah, it’s an interesting mix.
It’s not all football here in February, however. Mike Babcock previews the upcoming season for Nebraska baseball, we have photos from track and field as well as men’s gymnastics, we take a close look at Scott Frost’s quick roster overhaul and plenty more.
Volume 8 Issue 2 of Hail Varsity will hit newsstands and mailboxes in the days ahead. Make sure you don’t miss an issue by subscribing today.
