How Former Huskers Performed During Nebraska’s 2019 Pro Day

March 07, 2019

Nebraska hosted its annual Pro Day on Thursday, with 12 former Huskers participating in a variety of drills. Wide receiver Stanley Morgan Jr. was also in attendance, but didn’t participate in most drills after his NFL Combine performance. There were also a couple of players from Nebraska-Kearney in attendance.

The Huskers had a strong turnout from scouts, with 29 NFL teams in attendance. Those teams were the New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams, Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans and the New York Jets.

On having a strong day of testing?

“It’s huge. A lot of teams may overlook you for whatever reason, maybe because of our record, politics, whatever. Even if I thought I deserved to be able to go the Combine, a lot of people thought I didn’t, so I didn’t get to go. Today I was able to showcase that I deserve to be looked at and I deserve to have a chance at the next level.”

On what he wanted to accomplish at Pro Day?

“I definitely wanted to prove myself and show what I can do at this point. Hopefully, they liked what they saw.

“I wanted to show I wasn’t slow. Just running decent, looking fast, looking quick in and out of my cuts. I think I did a pretty good job on that. So I’m happy with that.”

On the feedback he’s gotten so far?

“I know everybody’s pretty happy. Especially after this, everybody came up to me afterward and said ‘Good workout.’ But when it comes to it, I was talking to a scout earlier and he said it’s kind of like throwing a dart in the dark. It all just depends on how it goes when the day comes. I’m happy everything’s positive and there’s no negative. Just going to go with the flow.”

On whether he was hurt by not getting an NFL Combine invite?

“A little. It was something I definitely wanted, but when I found out I didn’t get it, it shed a lot of light on Pro Day. It was one of those things I wanted, didn’t get, so I had to quickly get over it.

“As soon as I found out I didn’t get invited I kind of stopped thinking about it. Just wanted to get ready for the Pro Day.”

DB Antonio Reed

RB Mikale Wilbon

ILB Dedrick Young

Stanley Morgan Jr.

  • Vertical jump: 38.5”
  • Broad jump: 10’5”
  • 20-yard shuttle: 4.13
  • 3-cone drill: 6.78

On being happy with his Combine results and not having to test out at Pro Day?

“It just took a relief off my legs. I told my legs we don’t have to do too much today. … I’m pretty pleased and comfortable with it.”

On his feedback so far?

“I have a workout with the Saints soon, it’s in April, so I should be getting some more of those but that’s my first one right now. I just found that out yesterday.”
