1928 Nebraska-Montana State Program
Husker home-game programs included the title "Tales of the Cornhuskers from Homecoming against Kansas in 1927 through the early 1940s.

>>The only blemishes on Nebraska's record in 1928 were a scoreless tie with perennial power Pittsburgh in Lincoln in mid-November and a 13-3 loss at Army a week later.
>>Nebraska played Montana State again in 1930, also in Lincoln, winning 53-7.
>>Nebraska won the 1928 home-opener against Montana State 26-6 on the way to a 7-1-1 record and a Big Six Conference title in Ernie Bearg's final season as head coach.
>>Coach Bearg came to Nebraska from Illinois, where he was an assistant, coaching the legendary Red Grange. Even though his record in four seasons at Nebraska was 23-7-3, fan were unhappy because, in part, his teams were 1-3 against rival Missouri.
>>Fullback Edward "Blue" Howell, guard Dan McMullen and center Ted James, all seniors, led the victory against the Bobcats. McMullen, who was from Belleville, Kan., earned All-America recognition that season.
