Husker Attic: 1990 Cornhusker Coors Light Cans

February 08, 2020

There’s a lot of great Husker memorabilia out there. Husker Attic is how we’ve showcased those vintage finds in every issue of Hail Varsity since our very first one. In the weeks ahead we’re sharing some of those gems online. Brought to you by Husker Army Presents 2020 Husker Collectible and Autograph Show.

CORNHUSKER COORS LIGHT CANS

Cans commemorating the first 100 years of Nebraska football were issued in 1990 and were distributed to bars locally, but only briefly before being pulled.

>>The six-pack pictured is from the collection of subscriber in Omaha.

>>Many empty cans were crushed and recycled, adding to their rarity.

>>Randy Meyer of Superior Collectibles in Lincoln has sold six-packs such as this for as much as $90.

>>Empty cans were once listed on eBay with bids beginning at $8 to $10.

>>Coors Light also issued drinking glasses in 1998 featuring Herbie Husker to commemorate Nebraska's five national championships; a recent listing on eBay had a minimum bid of $9.95.
