>>Pepsi and Mountain Dew 12-ounce cans featured eight “HUSKER LEGENDS” quarterbacks in 1999: Brook Berringer, Dave Humm, Steve Taylor, Turner Gill, Vince Ferragamo, Jerry Tagge, Tommie Frazier and Scott Frost, pictured here.
>>Frost led Nebraska to a national championship as a senior in 1997, Tom Osborne’s final season as head coach. The national title was Osborne’s third in four seasons.
>>Frost was the first Husker quarterback to rush for 1,000 yards and pass for 1,000 yards in the same season. He passed for 1,237 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 1,096 yards and 19 touchdowns in 1997. Bowl games were not included in official NCAA statistics.
>>Pepsi and Mountain Dew cans featured eight “HUSKER LEGENDS” running backs in 2000 and eight “HUSKER LEGENDS” rush ends in 2002, as well as bowl games in 2001 and Husker fans in 2003. The cans were distributed regionally.
