Nebraska has its captains for 2019.
Sophomore quarterback Adrian Martinez and junior offensive lineman Matt Farniok were selected on offense. Linebacker Mohamed Barry and defensive lineman Darrion Daniels, both seniors, will represent the defense.

Nebraska voted for captains following Friday's practice with Scott Frost saying he was looking for the "two best leaders" on each side of the ball. The captains were announced at Saturday night's Boneyard Bash at Memorial Stadium.
The Huskers may only start one senior on offense in next week's season opener. None the less, non-senior captains have been somewhat rare in recent years. Jerald Foster (2017, 2018), Ameer Abdullah (2013, 2014), Taylor Martinez (2012, 2013) and Rex Burkhead (2011, 2012) all served as captains as juniors and seniors this decade. Martinez is the first sophomore to earn a captaincy since Joe Dailey in 2004.
Farniok started 12 games at right tackle for the Huskers in 2018. Offensive line coach Greg Austin praised his leadership abilities this spring.
"He was chomping at the bit last year and he had to wait his turn. Now that he has his turn, he hasn’t turned back,” Austin said. “Everything that he says, the guys listen to and he backs it up with his mindset and the way he attacks everything."
Daniels, a graduate transfer from Oklahoma State, also drew rave reviews in the spring for not just his play but also his leadership. "“I’m just proud of the way they come out to practice each and every day," new defensive line coach Tony Tuioti said of his group in April. "Darrion Daniels does an awesome job trying to set that tone."
Y’all really have no idea how honored I am. https://t.co/4H5pzH84s0

Barry led the Huskers in tackles last season with 112, the most in a season at Nebraska since Lavonte David had 133 in 2011. Barry has been one of the most vocal leaders for Nebraska this offseason and, like Martinez, represented the Huskers at Big Ten Media Days in July.
