The running back position, which has been up for grabs all of fall camp, still has no answers, with Tre Bryant, Mikale Wilbon and Devine Ozigbo all listed as potential starters. Freshman Jaylin Bradley is the odd man out in the group as he’s listed in the fourth spot.
Linebacker Marcus Newby had been battling with Luke Gifford for the starting spot outside, but he appears to have won that battle for now.
Freshman Tyjon Lindsey and redshirt freshman JD Spielman will be the Huskers leading kickoff return men, while senior De’Mornay Pierson-El will return punts. Spielman is also listed as the starter in the slot.
The Huskers open the season on Saturday against Arkansas State.

Derek is a newbie on the Hail Varsity staff covering Husker athletics. In college, he was best known as ‘that guy from Twitter.’ He has covered a Sugar Bowl, a tennis national championship and almost everything in between (except an NCAA men’s basketball tournament game… *tears*). In his spare time, he can be found arguing with literally anyone about sports.
