Nebraska and Michigan State coaches and specialists met at midfield prior to the Huskers-Spartans matchup on Saturday to honor the memory Nebraska punter Sam Foltz and Michigan State punter Mike Sadler.
The two specialists were involved in a one-car accident in Wisconsin on July 23, 2016 that killed both of them. Foltz and Sadler were working at a kicking camp the week of the accident.
This is Nebraska and Michigan State’s first meeting since the two punters passed away. In September of 2016 the Big Ten honored the pair with a commemorative coin that was used for the coin flip in each conference game that week.
On Saturday head coaches Scott Frost and Mark Dantonio met at midfield, along with the specialists from both teams, to give commemorative footballs to the families of Foltz and Sadler.
