When you are one of the most highly sought after players in the history of your state, your recruitment tends to be pretty big.
Four-star athlete Talanoa Hufanga from Corvallis, Oregon, has long been on the radar for Mike Riley and his staff. Hufanga’s older brother, T.J., was a walk-on at Oregon State so the family knows Riley well.
Hufanga has been pretty quiet during his recruitment, especially for a prospect of his caliber, but it looks like he does have an official visit set up with Nebraska.
Hufanga released his 10 finalists in June, a list that included Oregon and Oregon State. He is working to set up an official visit with USC and has dates locked in with Nebraska, Michigan and Utah.
That’s tremendous news for Nebraska. Hufanga is the type of player that is “a take” no matter how many other defensive backs are committed to the Huskers. He projects to be a safety in college.
Another interesting note here is that four of his five official visit slots look to be all but locked up. He would then only be able to officially visit either Oregon or Oregon State but not both if his current plans hold up. He has been to both of those campuses multiple times, but prospects do not typically end up at schools they don’t officially visit.
