Moving from cornerback to safety for his senior season, Kalu is expected to play a big role in Nebraska’s new 3-4 defense. As a junior, Kalu had a strong junior season with the Huskers, finishing the year
with 66 tackles, 48 solo tackles, 11 pass breakups and one
interception. He also had one sack against Fresno State.
Kalu is Nebraska’s first watch list candidate for 2017. He joins 41 other athletes from across the country to be named to the list.
The winner will be announced on Dec. 10 at a banquet in Newport Beach, California.
