Kickoff Times Announced for Five 2019 Nebraska Football Games

May 30, 2019

You can begin planning your fall schedule now. Kickoff times for five Nebraska games were announced on Thursday with the Huskers set to make one appearance on ESPN, two on Fox channels and one on the Big Ten Network so far.

Nebraska will open the 2019 season against South Alabama with an 11 a.m. kickoff in Lincoln (all times Central). The game will be carried on ESPN and receive a lead-in from ESPN's College GameDay. The Huskers last faced the Jaguars in 2015, a 48-9 win.

The marquee nonconference matchup against Colorado will kick off at 2:30 p.m. in Boulder on Sept. 7. There was some talk of a primetime game here––probably would've been Colorado's preference––but instead NU-CU will get the afternoon slot on Fox. The Buffs beat Nebraska in Lincoln last year, 33-28.

Rounding out the nonconference slate, the Huskers will host Northern Illinois on Sept. 14 with kickoff set for 7 p.m. on FS1. That's two days short of being two years to the day since the Huskies beat Nebraska 21-17 in Lincoln in 2017.

Northwestern visits Lincoln on Oct. 5. No network announcement for that game yet, but the game will start at either 2:30 or 3 p.m. Six of the eight Big Ten matchups between Northwestern and Nebraska have been decided by seven or fewer points including last year's game, a 34-31 overtime win for the Wildcats.

The regular-season finale against Iowa kicks off at 1:30 p.m. and, in a change from recent years, will be on BTN. The Hawkeyes beat the Huskers 31-28 last time out on a field goal as time expired.

And, yes, that means that for four of the five kickoff times announced today the Huskers' opponent won the most recent meeting.

Like we said at the top, you can begin planning your fall schedule revenge tour now.
