Nebraska (1-3, 0-1 Big Ten) and Indiana (3-1, 1-0 Big Ten) face off on Saturday to complete a four-game homestand for the Huskers. Nebraska also returns to Big Ten action on Saturday following a bye week.
This is just the third meeting between Nebraska and Indiana as Big Ten opponents since the Huskers joined the conference in 2011. However, Saturday’s matchup marks the 22nd all-time meeting between the two. Indiana currently holds a 10-8-3 advantage in the series.

Nebraska-Indiana preview
Nebraska is back to it following a bye week to rest and reset. In fact, that’s exactly what Huskers interim head coach Mickey Joseph wanted from his team over the last week.
“We needed this bye week. We need this bye week to reset. These kids haven’t had a chance to reset,” Joseph said. “It wasn’t like it was the Oklahoma Panhandle coming in here. It was OU coming in here, so let’s be real about it. So yeah, that was a good bye week.”
While it hasn’t been perfect for Nebraska so far this season, the offense has been a bright spot at times. The Huskers have averaged 451 yards of offense and 30.5 points per game. Nebraska has also gained 193.5 rushing yards per game, as well as 257.5 yards per game through the air.
As for Indiana, the Hoosiers are passing for nearly 300 yards per game at this point. Indiana coach Tom Allen and the Hoosiers are known for their offensive tempo, which is also known to be one of the fastest in the country. The Hoosiers’ offense will prove to be a major test for Nebraska’s defense, which is under the direction now of interim defensive coordinator Bill Busch.
“My thing is we have to get the calls in,” Joseph said. “Bill has to get the calls in and we have to execute the call.”
With that said, one area where Indiana has struggled is with its run game. While the Huskers haven’t exactly been stellar at stopping the run, the matchup against the Hoosiers could help Nebraska find its own footing in run defense.

As a side note, Saturday is also Nebraska’s homecoming game. It’s also a night game, which makes things a little more special for fans (and even the team).
“It’s always special to me when I can walk into Memorial Stadium. It’s always special,” he said. “Night, morning, afternoon, but just this homecoming, it’s a night game. Like I said, we’re going be excited to be back in front of the fans.”
