Barret Pickering does the… hole-in-one-ing?
That doesn’t have quite the same ring as “kickering” but it doesn’t make Pickering’s latest feat any less impressive. On June 10, the sophomore kicker had a hole-in-one on the eighth hole at Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln. According to a tweet by 93.7 The Ticket’s Tom Stephens, Pickering’s hole-in-one even made the local paper.

Highlands Golf Course is an 18-hole, championship, public golf course situated five miles northwest of Memorial Stadium. According to Denis Vontz, the director of golf at Highlands, the course gets around 18-20 hole-in-ones per year. They’ve seen six so far this season.
“That’s very difficult [to do],” Vontz said on Pickering’s accomplishment.
Pickering, who hit 40-of-41 extra-point tries and 14-of-18 field goal attempts during his freshman season at Nebraska, is an avid golf fan. He’s talked about his love for golf in his time with the Huskers, often comparing it to kicking and the evaluation he has to make every time he goes on the field. He’s even joked about his holder essentially being his caddy on the field.
Nebraska is smack dab in the middle of summer workouts, but the players are still able to enjoy some of their favorite activities away from the stadium. For Pickering, that’s golf. And he is now set with an impressive “what I did this summer” story.
