Nebraska (0-3) opened as an underdog to a Big Ten opponent for the second straight week. The Huskers host Purdue (1-3) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT. BetOnline.com listed the Boilermakers as a 3.5-point favorite on Sunday.
The Huskers began Big Ten play on the road against Michigan as an 18-point underdog. The Wolverines easily covered the line in a 56-10 win, marking the first 0-3 start to a season at Nebraska since 1945.
Purdue, in its second year under coach Jeff Brohm, also opened the season 0-3 before beating No. 23 Boston College 30-13 on Saturday. The Boilermakers were 6.5-point home underdogs to the Eagles, but benefitted from a a huge day from David Blough. The senior quarterback threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns while completing 21-of-28 passes. True freshman wide receiver Rondale Moore had eight receptions for 110 yards, including two touchdown receptions. Moore currently leads the Big Ten at 93 receiving yards per game.
Both Nebraska and Purdue are looking for their first conference win of the season. The Boilermakers opened the season with a 31-27 loss to Northwestern, the first of what would be three consecutive losses by one score. Purdue lost to Eastern Michigan 20-19 in Week 2 and Missouri 40-37 a week later. All four of the Boilermakers' games so far in 2018 have been home games.
Nebraska and Purdue kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT in Lincoln on Saturday. The game will be telecast by the Big Ten Network.
