Nebraska vs. Northwestern: Huskers Open as Underdog to Wildcats

October 07, 2018

Nebraska (0-5, 0-3 Big Ten) is the underdog once again. Northwestern opened as an 8.5-point favorite over the Huskers on Sunday.

Northwestern is 2-3 this season (2-1 Big Ten). The Wildcats most recently defeated No. 20 Michigan State 29-19 on the road in East Lansing. Prior to that, Northwestern lost three straight to Duke (21-7), Akron (39-34) and Michigan (20-17). They defeated Purdue 31-27 to open the season.

Nebraska comes into the matchup looking to snap a nine-game losing streak. It won't be easy on the road in Evanston, especially with how close the meetings between the Huskers and Wildcats typically are. Five out of the last seven meetings have been decided by a touchdown or less. Of those, four have been decided by less than three points.

With that said, the Huskers have won every meeting in Evanston since joining the Big Ten in 2011. That includes wins in 2012, 2014 and 2016.

Saturday's matchup is also homecoming for Northwestern. The game kicks off at 11 a.m. CT on ABC.
