In honor of the 1997 National Champion Nebraska team, the Huskers will don a throwback alternate uniform this upcoming season.
Announced Thursday, the red-top, white-pant alternate features mesh numbers across the chest, a nod to the look of the Husker-dominated 1990’s.
The red stripes have disappeared on the pants, sleeves are back, the base layer sports the Huskers script and player gloves feature the old-school Nebraska “N” to give the whole look a vintage feel without sacrificing modern technology.
The Huskers will debut the alternates on Saturday, Oct. 7, against Wisconsin where they will also honor the ’97 championship team that blitzed opponents by an average margin of victory of 30 points.
Nebraska teased the uniforms on Twitter on Tuesday and Adidas released a fan-order version of the uniform early Thursday morning that features a patch on the back of the jersey commemorating the ’97 team.

In his spare time, he can be found arguing with literally anyone about sports.
