Tyrin Ferguson came into his senior season hoping for health and opportunity. After 23 appearances in his first four years in Lincoln and four starts a season ago, the outside linebacker, as his position coach said often throughout the offseason, just needed to get healthy and he would play.
Ferguson has played in six games this season, but he has only recorded four tackles. Now, a Nebraska spokesperson confirmed to Hail Varsity, Ferguson is no longer with the program.
Multiple reports suggest Ferguson was dismissed from the program. The New Orleans native earlier this year was involved with an energy drink company called MIXR and recently has tried to jumpstart a real estate career. It’s unclear if either played a factor in his role this season or his departure.
His Husker career will end with 48 tackles in 29 career games, eight of them being for a loss.
Ferguson is the third player to leave the team in recent weeks, joining wideout Miles Jones and running back Moses Bryant, who both informed the coaching staff they have put their names in the transfer portal.
