The New England Patriots announced on Tuesday that they have signed former Husker Rex Burkhead as an unrestricted free agent from the Cincinnati Bengals.

Burkhead was drafted to the Cincinnati Bengals as the 190th pick in the sixth round of the 2013 draft. He has played in 42 NFL games over his four year career with the Bengals, including one start. He has 375 rushing yards on 87 attempts and 34 receptions for 288 yards and one touchdown. On special teams, he has 27 tackles.
The Patriots moved quickly to sign Burkhead, after he visited with the team on Monday. The terms of his contract were not immediately announced.
