Nebraska entered last Saturday's matchup against Oregon with a few unanswered injury questions. Wide receiver De'Mornay Pierson-El (shoulder) ended up playing, right tackle David Knevel (ankle) did not.
Knevel is still doubtful this week against Northern Illinois, but Mike Riley said he should be day-to-day after that with another week to heal.
Three other key players went down for the Huskers during the Oregon game. Linebacker Luke Gifford was banged up, but returned to the game and will be available this week. Safety Joshua Kalu injured his hamstring in the first half and didn't return. Riley said he is doubtful for Saturday.
Running back Tre Bryant went down late in the game and had to be helped off the field, not putting any weight on his right leg. Riley said there's "no new injury" for Bryant. He's had a knee issue Nebraska has had to monitor since he arrived on campus a year ago. The Huskers will make a decision on whether Bryant can go or not late in the week.
Nebraska and Northern Illinois kick off this Saturday at 11 a.m. CT. The game will be televised on FS1.
