Brown previously coached at Nebraska as an assistant from 1987 to 2003 (focusing on wide receivers and tight ends), and again from 2008 to 2014. He coached the tight ends from 2008-10 and running backs from 2011-14.
He was most recently at Liberty University, where he has served as associate head coach for the previous three seasons. Brown worked alongside former Husker quarterback and current Liberty head coach Turner Gill.
Brown will serve in a non-coaching role at Nebraska, mentoring the football student-athletes in a variety of off-field development areas. He will also work with the Life Skills program and assist with community outreach efforts for the Nebraska football team.
“Coach Brown had a tremendous impact on me during my playing career at Nebraska, and I am sure he will have a similar impact on many young men in our football program in the years ahead,” Frost said in a statement released by the university. “Coach Brown understands Nebraska and what makes this a great place for student-athletes to grow and learn in all areas.”
