Defensive coordinator Erik Chinander met with the media following Nebraska’s practice on Tuesday. During his time at the podium, Chinander discussed Michigan State’s quarterback situation, the Huskers’ defensive seniors and more.
When asked about the seniors specifically, Chinander said he hopes they know how important they were this first season and that they always feel welcome at Nebraska.
“It’s a little bittersweet,” Chinander said. “Those guys have done a great job in helping transform the direction of the program, the culture of the program, setting the stage of what’s to come in the next few years. They understand that but it’s going to be kind of bittersweet to have them go the last time without them experiencing what they created.
“I hope they’re back forever. I hope they feel they can come back for any meeting, any practice, any game and to be a part of this team. They’ll always be a part of this team no matter where it goes. I think it’s going to be really good in the future and I hope they realize how big of a part they’ll have in this.”
