Nebraska coach Scott Frost said redshirt freshman quarterback Tristan Gebbia did not practice on Monday. The news comes after true freshman Adrian Martinez was named the starter over the weekend.
Martinez spoke before Frost on Monday, sharing a little about the "honor to be the starting quarterback" at Nebraska. When Frost took the podium, he confirmed the news about Gebbia. He didn't want to talks about "ifs" as it relates to Gebbia. He believes Gebbia is a good kid, good teammate and he hopes that "he's here at the end of the day."
Frost also addressed senior leadership, goals for the year and potential captains. Speaking on captains specifically, he said he would be looking at the situation with his staff this week. He is unsure if there will be four full-time captains or a rotation throughout the year.
While the quarterback news led the press conference, Frost also confirmed that the Big Ten has bumped the travel roster number from 70 to 74.
