In-State 2019 DE Garrett Nelson Commits to Nebraska

June 24, 2017

In what is becoming a familiar summer story in Nebraska, an in-state kid goes to the Huskers' showcase camp. In-state kid does well and draws a scholarship offer. In-state kid verbally commits to Nebraska.

The in-state kid in this particular story is defensive end Garrett Nelson (6-3, 240) of Scottsbluff. He tweeted the news Saturday night.

Nebraska got in early on Nelson. He earned offers from South Dakota and South Dakota State before going to the Huskers camp and Nebraska didn't delay after seeing him in person.

Nelson is currently the only commit in the 2019 class. Dallas, Texas, wide receiver Marquez Beason verbally committed to the Huskers in April, but decommitted a month later.
