This weekend was not just big for the big targets Nebraska had on campus on hand to check out a night game in Memorial Stadium against Wisconsin. It was also a big deal for the 2018 players that are committed to Nebraska since all of them except one was able to come back for the game.

Three-star defensive end Tate Wildeman‍ (6-6, 245) from Legend High School in Parker, Colorado, committed to Nebraska back in April and was in town for the game. In fact, he had quite the journey getting to Lincoln.

“After my football game Friday night, we took off around 11:30," Wildeman said. "We drove to Kearney. Got into Kearney around 6 am, slept until 11 am and got into Lincoln about 1:30 or 2 o’clock.”

After Wildeman and his family got to town, they took in the campus, went to the bookstore and walked over to the stadium. They got to tour a couple of the buildings because they had some people waiting on them by the stadium when we got there to show them around.

Wildeman thinks he wants to major in Education and minor in sports management or double major in Sports Management and Education.

He really enjoyed his time with all the recruits and commits that were on hand to take in the game.

“Being there with all the different recruits was great," Wildeman said. "I’ve never really got a chance to talk with the guys in depth so it was definitely great. I had good conversation with everyone, they all have one common goal in mind. We’re excited to get things started. We all got along very well, it was a great time.”

He told me he got to talk to his future position coach, John Parrella, a bit before the game at a barbecue Nebraska had catered by Phat Jack’s. This was actually an unofficial visit for Wildeman and he plans to come back for the Iowa game for his official.

Wildeman had been to Lincoln two years ago for the Iowa night game, which was the first time he got to see the whole experience of a game at Memorial Stadium. So how was it this time around?

“It was incredible, there is nothing else like it," he said. "Definitely very special."
