Scott Frost Earns Coach of the Year Honor

December 6, 2017

After leading Central Florida to a 12-0 record, American Athletic Conference championship and a spot in the Peach Bowl, Scott Frost has been named the 2017 Home Depot Coach of the Year.

Frost, who was named Nebraska's next coach shortly after the Knights' 62-55 win over Memphis on Dec. 2, will be presented with the award during Home Depot College Football Awards show in Atlanta on Dec. 7. The event airs live on ESPN at 6 p.m. CT.

Frost, who took over at UCF in 2016, is the fifth coach to win the award in his first two years as a head coach, a group that includes former Nebraska coach Frank Solich. He was named Coach of the Year in 1999, his second season leading the Huskers.

This may not be the only national coaching award for Frost this winter. He is one of eight finalists for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award. Frost was also named the AAC and Region 1 American Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year.
