4-Star QB Adrian Martinez Talks Nebraska Visit, Decision Timeline

This weekend, Nebraska’s new coaching staff hosted its first official visit weekend. Among the first wave of visitors was 4-star dual-threat QB Adrian Martinez‍. Originally, Martinez had locked in his official visit for the weekend of the 15th and he was scheduled to go to Missouri this weekend.

After an in-home visit from Huskers’ quarterback coach Mario Verduzco, Martinez moved the visit up to this weekend and cancelled his trip to Missouri. I was able to catch up with Martinez after his visit to see how he enjoyed the trip.

“I had a great time and it was good to meet Coach Frost and the rest of the coaches on the staff.”

Bonding with Frost and the rest of the staff is obviously going to play a major part in his recruitment. I think most quarterbacks with his skill set will be sold on playing in this offense, but relationships are always key. When I previously talked to Martinez he mentioned wanting to get a feel for the campus life so I asked him if he felt he was able to accomplish that goal.

“Yes, I toured the entire campus and spent time with a lot of current players,” he said.

Martinez told me that he and his father, Tony, made the trip, and it was their first time in Nebraska. Tony also had good things to say about the visit.

“I thought the visit went really well," he said. "I was very impressed with their energy and effort considering they have only been there a week. Coach Frost and his entire staff are very humble and genuine people. The Nebraska football program is in great hands with their leadership and direction.”

It seems like Nebraska has really given the Tennessee commit something to seriously consider. I asked him about his timeline for a decision since he plans to sign early and then enroll early.

“I will probably make a final decision within this next week,” he said.
