4-Star WR Josh Moore Reopens His Recruitment

When there is a coaching change at any college, players get nervous and leave the recruiting class. We have seen a slow drip that started with Brendan Radley-Hiles, Chase Williams and Mario Goodrich. Nebraska was holding at eight verbal commits for the 2018 class which was being led by the highest-rated commit, 4-star wide receiver Joshua Moore‍.

Now the class feels like it’s in freefall after Moore announced via Twitter that he was leaving the class.

The loss of Moore from the class is very similar to the loss of Radley-HIles. Moore was the offensive leader of this class and is one of the top recruits in the country. The new Husker coaches have their work cut out for them now trying to not only rebuild a defensive back group in the class but also the wide receiver group. It is not expected that 4-star wide receiver Cameron Brown, who was at Ohio State for an official visit this weekend will stay in the class either.

Though Moore didn’t name Keith Williams in his tweet, there is no way to avoid that the decision by Scott Frost to not really consider keeping him has a major effect here. The same can be said when Brown leaves the class eventually. New offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Troy Walters must make some serious headway on the recruiting trail to bring quality bodies into the room because his position group is among the thinnest on the team.

This is clearly not the way Nebraska wanted to finish off a good opening weekend of hosting official visitors but there are always losses during these transitions even if the state of Nebraska is united behind Coach Frost.
